Ecological Bricks

Ecological Bricks

This documentation was produced by a new platform of (then 39, later over 100) NGOs and concerned citizens who wanted to draw public attention of governments, parliaments and finance institutions to some special nature landscapes along the former Iron Curtain.
24 of these areas are documented as "Ecological Bricks for Our Common House of Europe" due to their ecological importance and geographical location along the former East-West border: If "we still want to prevent our last natural habitats, and with them our environmental heritage, falling prey to the transformation in Europe", and if, on the base of an ecologically oriented planning and economy, we want to solve our crisis of survival, then these Brick areas offer a unique opportunity to reconsider and correct our attitude towards nature, our own species and our values (excerpts from the cover text).

The 62 pages document includes a description of the 24 Brick areas between Finland and the Black Sea, as well as thoughts about the Brick idea by Hanns Langer, Carl Amery, Antal Festetics, Paul Blau, Hans Immler and Alexander Zinke. The annex includes the "Bratislava Declaration" (signed by 20 NGOs) and the "Danube Charter - Declaration on the Sustainable Development of the Central Danube Area". Most texts are given in English, Czech and German.
The document is nearly out of stock!
